ABOUT ME

My name is Vincent Alvaré and I live in South Philadelphia. I like to play music, make art, and use digital media.
I currently play drums and do vocals for my band Far-Out Fangtooth.

Early on I felt a creative passion for music which has only grown stronger over the years. I've played in numerous bands and just for fun with many different people. When I was about 13 years old, I started designing websites to share my music with friends using a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor. Soon after that, I started experimenting with Flash animation and even some interactivity. Eventually I took a web design class at Ocean City High School (NJ) and learned how to use basic HTML.

After high school, I studied Digital Design at Philadelphia University and graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor's degree. It was there that I took my first drawing classes, and with the help of learning fundamental design concepts I was able to realize that although I'm not the best, I have a good eye and a unique style of art. I started doing studies in a journal in 2006, painted my first canvas in 2008, and had my first art show in 2009.

As a designer, artist, and musician, I'm looking to spread my creative expression via the digital media channel. That is why I've created an online journal, as a sort of catalogue of my interests and accomplishments.

The name "The Singular Perspective," literally meaning "a unique point of view," stems from the concept that we are all experiencing a continuous stream of moments in time and space, and that none of them are alike. The many influences surrounding each moment affect our perception and directly relate to our actions, which, in my case, often take the form of creative expression. Since each individual perceives every moment differently, we all have our own singular perspective.
